Nike Blazer
Nike Blazer, pioneer of sneaker culture
The Nike Blazer is a little piece of history for the Oregon firm. She's even a downright pioneer in sneaker culture . Although the Blue Ribbon Sports company has been importing Japanese sports shoes since the mid-1960s, it was not until 1971 that its founders Phil Knight and Bill Bowermann began marketing their own creations and unveiled their iconic swoosh. The Nike Blazer was released only two years later in 1973. Sober and elegant, its longevity is incredible and Nike continues to release new models today. The Nike Blazer is a classic with clean lines that we appreciate for its simplicity.
Official shoe of an NBA star
The Blazer owes its name to Oregon's flagship basketball team that plays in the NBA, the Portland Trail Blazers. However, it is with the star of another franchise, George “Iceman” Gervin who wears the San Antonio Spurs jersey, that the American equipment manufacturer signs a juicy contract. Huge marketing coup at that time! The player lends his image to the shoe and even sees his nickname printed in capital letters on the heel. An NBA size that gives its name to a pair of sneakers is without a doubt a concept that will catch on in the minds of Nike executives. But these sneakers from the 70s quickly become old-school and are gradually ejected from the floors by more innovative models.Nike Blazer, a vintage look that's always trendy
Like the Nike Dunk Low in its day, the Nike Blazer is quickly becoming a trend among skaters. They appreciate its shock resistance and the total adherence to the board thanks to its rubber sole which merges midsole and outsole. Its retro and versatile style also makes it a perfect lifestyle shoe. Listening to the skater community, Nike developed an original version in 2005, the SB Blazer, through its Nike SB Skateboard division created in 2002. The Blazer traces its path from sports fields to skate parks, from the street to homes luxury and several collaborations in the early 2000s brought this basic up to date. In 2014, Nike dropped a suede leather Blazer and more recently released a very vintage model of the legendary high-top shoe, the Nike Blazer Mid'77 .
